Mom, You Are Not Alone

Therapy for Moms in Miami

You might look around and wonder how other moms seem to be holding it all together while you feel stretched thin, overwhelmed, or like you’re constantly trying to catch up.

There’s nothing wrong with you. This season asks a lot of you physically and emotionally. The mental load of motherhood, changing hormones, low energy, and never having a moment to slow down can leave you feeling like you’re surviving and never truly thriving.

Motherhood can feel surprisingly isolating.

You deserve to feel like you have someone in your corner.

We look at what’s happening emotionally, while also exploring the ways stress, exhaustion, and hormonal health may be affecting how you feel. Together, we create support that helps you feel more like yourself again. Not just for your family, but for you too.

In our work together, we take a holistic, mind-body approach to support you within the demands of motherhood.

Motherhood can feel overwhelming, but you don’t have to keep navigating it on your own. In our work together, we take a collaborative approach so you feel seen, understood, and actively involved every step of the way.

I gently guide you in understanding what’s contributing to your stress while offering practical tools you can begin using right away. Many moms find relief in simply knowing there are ways to feel calmer, more present, and more in control of their day-to-day experience.

Therapy for Moms Can Help

When you’re constantly caring for everyone else, it can become hard to even recognize what you need. You just know something feels off, like you’re running on empty, stretched thin, or not quite like yourself.

In our work together we slow things down and gently sort through what’s actually contributing to that overwhelm, whether it’s lack of rest, constant mental pressure, or feeling disconnected from yourself.

From there, we focus on what will support you most right now. That might mean learning how to quiet anxious thoughts, regulate stress in your body, or create small, realistic shifts that help you feel more steady and cared for in your day-to-day life.

Answers to Your Questions

Many women experience a significant identity shift in motherhood. Becoming a parent often brings profound changes to routines, responsibilities, relationships, and personal priorities. Over time, the constant focus on caring for others can make it difficult for mothers to stay connected to their own needs, interests, and sense of identity.

It is common for mothers to feel like they have become primarily responsible for everyone else, while their own inner life has taken a back seat. Through counseling for mothers in Miami, therapy can help women explore these identity shifts, reconnect with their sense of self, and find a more sustainable balance between motherhood and their personal well-being.

Why do I feel like I’ve lost myself after becoming a mother?

Motherhood burnout is a state of deep emotional and physical exhaustion that can develop when the ongoing demands of parenting exceed a mother’s capacity for rest and support. Many women experiencing burnout describe feeling constantly depleted, overwhelmed by the mental load of managing a household, and unable to recharge even when they try to take breaks.

Burnout can also include irritability, brain fog, difficulty concentrating, and a sense of emotional distance from daily life. Working with a therapist who provides therapy for moms in Miami can help mothers process the pressures they are carrying while learning ways to restore energy, create healthier boundaries, and support long-term holistic motherhood wellness.

The Heard Counseling is an out-of-network provider and does not bill insurance directly. However, we can provide a monthly statement (superbill) that you may submit to your insurance company for potential reimbursement, depending on your out-of-network mental health benefits.

Does The Heard Counseling & Coaching accept insurance?

10

Yes. The Heard Counseling offers specialized therapy for mothers experiencing postpartum mental health challenges.

These services provide targeted support for women experiencing symptoms of postpartum depression, anxiety, intrusive thoughts, or emotional overwhelm after childbirth.

Do you offer specialized support for postpartum depression or anxiety?

Motherhood can place significant demands on both the mind and body. Many mothers experience chronic fatigue, tension, sleep disruption, and nervous system overload due to the constant responsibility of caring for others. During this period of our lives, we often forget to take care of ourselves. This might look like skipping a meal, not going for a walk, or getting some physical movement in our day. These things are small, but they add up and cause havoc on our hormonal systems, which then builds up and lead to burnout and physical exhaustion. If you are physically exhausted all the time, your body and mind are depleted of nutrients, and you probably also have low thyroid and low hormones. All these aspects must be considered if we are to support real healing.

Through therapy that incorporates somatic therapy for moms and nervous system regulation, many women learn ways to reduce stress, restore energy, and better support their physical and emotional well-being during motherhood.

Why do I feel so physically exhausted even when I’m “doing everything right”?

08

The length of therapy can vary depending on your goals and the challenges you are facing. Some mothers seek therapy for several months during a particularly stressful season, while others choose to continue longer as they work through deeper identity shifts or life transitions.

Therapy focuses on helping women develop lasting emotional resilience, healthier coping strategies, and a stronger sense of balance in motherhood.

How long does therapy for moms typically take?

07

Yes. The Heard Counseling specializes in therapy for women in Miami, including support for mothers navigating anxiety, burnout, and life transitions. This focus allows the practice to better understand the emotional and social experiences many women face during motherhood and beyond.

Does The Heard only work with women?

06

Many mothers experience motherhood burnout and the constant mental load of managing family responsibilities, work, and relationships. Over time, this can lead to emotional exhaustion, anxiety, and a sense of losing connection with yourself.

Through counseling for mothers in Miami, Dr. April Brown helps women explore the pressures they are carrying while building healthier boundaries, emotional regulation skills, and more sustainable ways of navigating motherhood. Therapy provides a space where mothers can focus on their own well-being and reconnect with their sense of identity.

How can Dr. April Brown help me with motherhood burnout and the "mental load"?

05

Traditional talk therapy often focuses primarily on discussing thoughts and emotions. A holistic approach to therapy for moms also considers the many different elements that impact our mental health, including nutrition, movement, vitamins, hormonal balance, and gut health.

At The Heard Counseling, therapy may incorporate somatic therapy for moms, nervous system regulation for mothers, and a mind-body framework for motherhood. We are focused on psychoeducation on the many different factors that impact our mental health, so that we are targeting all avenues that could be impacting your mental health. This approach helps mothers understand the connection between emotional stress, physical exhaustion, and overall well-being.

What is the difference between traditional talk therapy and a holistic approach to therapy for moms?

04
Both therapy and coaching can support women in motherhood, but they serve different purposes. Clinical therapy focuses on emotional well-being and mental health, helping women process anxiety, burnout, identity changes, and other deeper emotional challenges.

Wellness coaching, on the other hand, tends to focus more on forward-looking goals, mindset shifts, and personal growth strategies. If you are experiencing extreme emotional overwhelm or anxiety that is impacting your functioning, therapy may be the most supportive starting point. With coaching, we focus on the educational aspect of the mind-body connection and help you set and reach the goals you have in life.
